With the new Editions series of Startup Weekend ramping up, I decided it was probably a good idea to attend the Design Edition being held last weekend June 5-7, 2015.  With an ending similar to last year, my team was one of the smallest and went home with the winner’s trophy making this my 2nd win at a Startup Weekend competition.  The idea I pitched this year was for a social marketplace built on a mobile platform that will be used to service the tattoo industry as a whole.  In short, artists and studios would have their own profiles and lead generation with potential new customers would be occur through project postings set up in similar fashion to a job board like Elance or 99Designs.  This product is currently in development with a beta version scheduled to launch in the next few months.  Overall the weekend was a great experience, and I learned a lot about the ins and outs of developing and prototyping mobile applications.  Throughout the weekend I was responsible for:

    • Pitching the initial concept
    • Design of full-color logos
    • Corporate color palette assembly
    • User experience layout and wireframes
    • User interface design for prototype
    • Design of all screenshots and mockups
    • Final presentation design
    • Writing and presentation of final pitch
